College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) Seminar Series on Sustainability, Energy, and the Environment
The objective of this endeavor is to provide a series of seminars in the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 semesters, presented by the CETA faculty and corporate executives/policy makers on various topics related to Sustainability, Energy, and the Environment. The series is open to all faculty, staff and students of the University as well as the general public, and provides a platform to share knowledge and scientific research with peers and students with vigorous discussions as well as Q&A. We believe the study of Sustainability, Energy, and the Environment is both cutting-edge and timely. The seminar series provides a unique opportunity to advance research across disciplinary and professional boundaries.
Several CETA faculty and Dean Manzione have been invited and accepted our invitation to present seminars in their area of specialization. The members of the group have diverse interests and expertise in sustainability as a field of study. They approach it from different disciplinary and professional backgrounds (e.g. mechanical, environmental, energy, transportation, education, industry) and with a wide range of experience and expertise. They will address some of the issues noted above from their own perspectives and explore them in conjunction with other colleagues in academia, industry and government.
This seminar series is organized by Clara Fang, Assistant Professor of Civil, Environmental, and Biomedical Engineering, and Tom Filburn, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and sponsored by the Sustainability Grant from the Office of the Provost and the ASCE, ASHRAE, ASME, IEE and SWE Student Chapters of CETA.
